Intro to Whitewater Kayaking ~ Register Now!

This class is designed for the person who has always wanted to try whitewater kayaking. A 2.5 hour introduction to whitewater kayaking instruction class begins with complete gear outfitting and basic safety instruction, and continues with instruction of paddling techniques, ferrying, peel ins/outs. Morning and Afternoon classes offered June 5th, 26th, 27th, July 10th & 11th, August 7th & 8th, September 4th, 5th, 18th, and 19th.

To secure the instructor(s) for the basic whitewater class, participants must register in advance by filling out the form to allow our partner, Bear Paw, know how many instructors to bring.

Cost of the class is $40 plus the $5 ACA fee unless you select ACA membership. See Waiver forms for ACA membership information.

There are 2 classes per day with 6 students per class. Classes will begin by fitting students for gear and boats. The instructor will begin the class on flat water and progress to the whitewater course for training in basic whitewater paddling.

Morning (am) sessions are from 9am to 12 noon and Afternoon (pm) sessions are from 1pm to 4pm. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your session. Morning sessions will be filled first and then additional registered participants will be added to the afternoon session.

This very popular course series means that sessions fill up quickly so register early for them.

Kayak Rolling ~ Register Now!

Offered Aug 7th (Morning), Sept 4 (Afternoon), Sept 5 (Morning)

A 2 hour introduction into the Kayak roll In this clinic will introduce and teach the roll in a step by step progression. Rolling your kayak will give you confidence in your paddling!

To secure the instructor(s) for the basic whitewater class, participants must register in advance by filling out the form to allow our partner, Bear Paw, know how many instructors to bring.

Class III Level Kayaking ~ Register Now!

Offered on the afternoons of July 10th and August 7th

Learn the techniques and strokes for sharp crisp eddy turns, ferries, jet ferries, peel outs, stroke timing, and surfing.

Participants must be able to perform eddy turns, peel outs and ferries in a kayak on class II whitewater, roll (>50%) on class II whitewater and effect self rescues.

Fundamentals of Freestyle Kayaking ~ Register Now!

Offered July 11th

Have you ever watched other kayakers surf, side surf, and cartwheel. Get helpful feedback and clear precise instruction by one of our coaches. This clinic will cover surfing, side surfing, squirting, intiating both bow and stern and cartwheeling. Participants should have a solid class II-III roll and the ability to catch eddies, ferry and peel out in powerful current.

This class begins with 2 hours of instruction starting at 10am, break for lunch, and an additional 2 hours of instruction in the afternoon. To secure the instructor(s) for the basic whitewater class, participants must register in advance by filling out the form to allow our partner, Bear Paw, know how many instructors to bring.

Have you ever wanted to learn some whitewater canoeing skills for your canoeing adventures instead of portaging? Or just want too see how fun playing in the rapids with a whitewater canoe really is?
