Wausau Whitewater Park

In the 1970s whitewater paddling was just beginning

With few local paddlers and the popularity of whitewater paddling in the USA mainly throughout the Southeastern states, the park originally began as a way to attract national and international whitewater slalom competitions. A world-class park developed over time, and Wausau Whitewater Park has since hosted multiple National, North American, and World Championship events.

As the years continued, events and programs expanded to introduce the local community to whitewater paddlesports and safety while also developing the park to stimulate the local economy through its attraction for both visitors and residents in downtown Wausau.

Today, the 1/3 mile course located in the heart of downtown Wausau, WI has developed to offer more than 11 whitewater features for paddlers of all skill levels from beginner to advanced. The venue hosts public recreation, professional instruction, and major competitive events attracting thousands of visitors annually and generating millions of dollars in economic impact to the greater Wausau area since its inception.

Whitewater paddling is an activity for all ages and it’s never too late to learn and enjoy. So join us this year at Wausau Whitewater Park to Watch, Learn, Play or Compete
