Intro to whitewater kayaking classes

Waivers | schedule - (PDF)

2.5 Hour Lesson | Cost $55 | Ages 12 and up

Are you ready to take the plunge and get your feet wet (literally) to learn basic whitewater paddling skills? Perhaps you have a foundation in whitewater but want to fine-tune your ferries and eddy turns, start rolling or strengthen that fledgling roll? Maybe you're ready to learn to surf a wave or are looking for the confidence in your skills to be able to run the Class III rapids of the course?

If so, These classes are for you!

What to Expect:

Lessons begin by getting everyone in proper gear and ready to paddle. As a group we’ll then discuss relevant experience, individual goals for the lesson and then divide into small groups based on skills/goals. The class has a flexible format depending on the participants’ experience.

Beginners will start by learning about kayaks, how to get in, how to get out and practice tipping over (“wet exiting”) in a controlled and safe setting. Then basic strokes will be introduced and practiced in very easy current. By the end of the lesson we may run some simple rapids on the lower part of the course. If you have some experience and skill, we’ll start with where you are at, tune up your technique and build on your skills.

For each session we often have 3-5 small instructor led groups arranged according to goals and skill levels.

When Are the Lessons?
