Swiftwater Rescue Clinic

This two day clinic teaches recognition and avoidance of common river hazards, execution of self-rescue techniques and rescue techniques for paddlers in distress. Emphasis is placed both on personal safety and on simple, commonly used skills. Fundamental and more advanced techniques for dealing with hazards that carry greater risks for both victim and rescuer, such as strainers, rescue vest applications, entrapments and pins also are practiced. Scenarios will provide an opportunity for participants to practice their skills both individually and within a group context.

Team River Runner

Team River Runner’s mission is to provide all Veterans and their families an opportunity to find health, healing, community purpose and new challenges through adventure and adaptive paddle sports.

We work closely with Team River Runner (TRR) chapters in the Midwest including TRR Green Bay, TRR Milwaukee and chapters in Minnesota.

We welcome Veterans and their families to join us for a weekend of learning to paddle at our Wausau Whitewater Park. Instructors and safety volunteers are here to help you learn and advance your skills. If this is your first time in a kayak we will teach you the basics, or if you have whitewater experience we will help you advance to paddle your first Class III rapid.

Not a Veteran? That’s OK! We need plenty of volunteers during the TRR weekend to help with both on-water and off-water activities. Sign-up to Volunteer.
